:swear::swear::swear:

had to put down my female salvini last night. I have had the wrst luck with these fish over the past year. She had a blockage of some kind i believe. See my other thread: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96012

don't know what caused it but she'd been suffering with the cindition for alsomst a full week, and last night she was swimming in circles all over the tank. She was obviously dying a horrible death. So i scooped her out and ended it.

she was looking really good before she got sick too dammit!

Headrush I feel for you bud. You just got the little beauty too. I am sorry for the loss as I know how spectacular salvini's are. Good luck with any future purchases! I hope everything turns out better for you!

thanks cross. Just checking in here and noticed what a bad photo I used. Was really in ahurry before work this morning when I posted it. I'll look for a better one tonight. I want another one soooo bad but just don't know .....she went from healthy and active to blah and washed out in no time. still not sure what killed her as she was bloated for a week or so.

A lfs gave me some vegetable food to feed these guys. Mentioned it in the other thread. its made by sea salt or something and has clams, algae and some other green matter in it.

How often do you feed cichlids vegetable matter? Is it a once per week thing or 2-3 times per week?

I feed zuccini too but I cut a chunk and push a ribbon weight through it so it drops to the bottom. I feed that every other day, every couple of weeks or when I remember to grab it at the store.

Was gona try peas but the juvies aren't big enough to fit one in their mouth. Will they still eat them?

Foods I've been feeding regularly:
Hikari gold cichlid pellets
Hikari cichlid staple
frz dried Krill
shrimp pellets
blood worms
red worms (earthworms)
frz brine shrimp but not often

Algae wafers and zuccini for the pleco's

I mix it up constantly, usually both types of pellets in the morning then, pick 2 others at night.

Could the high protein feeding regimen have bound her up and killed her?:confused:
