the floor in my basement is horribly crooked.what i ended up doing was useing 2x4 and cutting them i a wedge the long way.level the stand with shims. then trace the gap onto the 2x4. cut and slid under the stand. this way the stand is supported the whole lenght

With shims.......... I would put a strong board underneath the stand and shim the one side with shims or blocks or whatever you got.

What are shims? Try describing this to a construction idiot.

Is it even that important to do this?

Very important to shim and level your tank. How far of level are you?

Go to a hardware store ask for shims (thickness depends on how off the tank is)
They are wooden and you hammer them under your stand every 3" starting on the low side and check level every few shims. Very simple, very important. Make sure that the tank is Atleast half full when shimming

How the heck would I be able to shim the tank under the stand when it's half full? That would be 90 gallons of water which weighs a lot already on top of the heavy glass.
