I received all these guys from a friend who used to have a reef setup aloooong time ago. What exactly is it? just dead corals, and live rock?

my question are they worth anything? or worth any money?
will they be of use when i set up a marine tank? (buffer the PH)

They are corals and "live" rock.

It used to be very popular in the hoby to put coral skeletons in your tank. Then environmentalists drove the market away from that. Plus, don't live corals look better than death.

they can be used as base rock or cured...... wroth maybe a dollar a pound

The live rock is of little use, due to being dry. It will populate with bacteria once again but will take some time. As mentioned earlier it would make some great base rock, and it may also serve as some good coral frag rock.
