Hey everyone. I am trying to ship a fish to a fellow MFKer. My two places i can go to is STAPLES or the Post office. Staples delivers by UPS, is more direct to the location, BUT it's time for overnight shipping is not great. Thats because if i ship the fish monday overnight, it will end up on tuesday EVENING! For the post office, I havent check the times but they are very less direct and could stop at a different location for the buyer to pick it up and ship by FeDex i believe.

Ive been given some tips on using oxygen so that the fish could live longer in the bag. What should I do? The staples eveing arrival is much cheaper and I think that would be easier on the buyer too but I dont know how the fish will make it there on time. PLus, Ive asked all fish stores around my area and none give free o2. One of them said they have air blocks. I think they meant like bag buddies. Are those ok? Help PLease!

THanks!

depending on how big the fish and the shipping bag is, it's recommended that you use oxygen.

if they don't give free, then simply pay like a dollar (which is MORE than enough) for the oxygen.

as for shipping, to my knowledge, they have multiple trucks during various set hours of the day that comes and pickup the packages to be shipped; and in order for the package to make it to the plane on that day, you would want to be there in the afternoon or earlier.

why don't you just drop it off directly at the fedex location?

Well, the fish is a inch datnoid - 1 inch so very small. Im selling because i dont want it to be eaten. There is no direct FEDEx location around my local areaI

For the lfss, its not that its not free, its that they dont have it. Here, to close a bag, they just quickly grab the back to catch any air in it

A welding shop? A blast of oxygen!? Explain please :D

thankx

use a large shipping bag and ship it overnight. should be fine without oxygen. i've had small juvenile fish shipped to me without oxygen in large bags that did just fine.

since there are no fedex locations, then i guess you don't have much choice. like i said, if you drop off the box at staples early, it should be able to make it to the cargo plane on the same day... just call and ask the store employee if you need confirmation on that.

gas welding torch uses oxygen and fuel gas.... almost every welding shop has a gas torch like this.....just stick the end of the torch in the bag and run a little oxygen in it.

That little fish will be fine without the 02. Bag buddies only work for a max time of 6 hours, so dont bother. If the usps express service states an overnight delivery can be made to the buyer, thats the cheapest route you can go, should be $25-$28-$32

SO i should just stick with overnight from monday evening to tuesday evening arrival? around 7 pm? and just get a really big bag?

HOW do you get the fish shipped out is my problem? Do you have to tell them its fish? Or what do you tell them when they ask you? I want to ship fish too, but I'm paranoid that I'll sell the fish, and then can't ship it because all the FedEx, UPS, and USPS places won't take the packages. Any input?
