If I'm receiving fish in summer (or winter for that matter), if possible I ask the shipper to put my phone number on the box, with an obvious note to call me as soon as the box arrives at the local office, I then have them hold the box inside and I pick it up myself. Whether the number is lost, or not, I always incessantly track the package and call the PO on arrival day the moment it opens, and ask them to hold, or even if its already on, to take it off the truck.
There is nothing worse than having the fish ride around for many hours in a hot truck.
I realize we have no control over whether the box sits on a tarmac, but minutes can make a serious difference, so for me, arrival day trumps everything else, it may seem a bit over the top, but I've not not lost anything significant yet, with this method.
