Not sure where local you're going to find fish bags. Might try buy/sell and see if a local member has some. Only place I know to get some is ordering online.

You should go to your lfs and ask for a styrofoam lined box, or get enough styrofoam to line a small cardboardbox completely with no gaps.

then go to a camping store and see if you can if you can get some heatpacks the longer lasting the better. At least 24 hour ones if not 48-72 hour ones. You will also need rubberbands or even plastic wire ties I've seen used.

Ditto, I also work at and LFS and will hook customers up with fish bags and even boxes.

When I ship, I double bag the fish. I close the first bag tightly with a rubberband then flip that bag upside-down into the second bag and seal that one. Then I put it in the styrofoam box. If there is room for the bag to move, I use newspaper to fill the gaps. I tape a handwarmer (from a sporting goods store) to the inside of the styrofoam lid. Tape it up good and I'm set.

Also make sure you leave some air in the bag as well. And box size should be just slightly bigger than the bag if you can find one. Sometimes that can be tricky as a lot of LFS boxes are huge.

Also - this time of year you shouldn't need a heatpack. I didn't even use one in May when I shipped fish from MN.

You might be right, I use one when I know it's going on an airplane, just to be safe, I don't know if they heat the cargo areas or not... I might be just wasting a handwarmer, but oh well. :)
