Do not get a UPS account, what ever you do. I shipped a fish through them for $30 by two day ground. Before I took it to them, I cleared it with the person working there whether they would ship it ground, and got the price. The lady had the management look up the regulations for shipping fish, and they approved it. I went and got the fish, and sent it on its way...so I thought. They let it sit at their main terminal for two days then shipped it overnight air and then charged me $130 additional for it. They wouldn't refund my money because they said that it is their policy to only overnight live fish.
Another pisser was I had sold a battery on eBay to someone in Canada. I got a shipping quote from UPS at the main terminal from an actual human who supposedly knew what it takes to ship something out of the country. The buyer paid the shipping and the battery went on its way. Then they later charged me about twenty or thirty dollars for a hazardous material handling fee that they "didn't know about" because it was charged by Canadian Post. I think UPS has been around long enough to know what Canadian Post charges. Furthermore, I didn't take it to UPS to have it delivered by someone else.
Sorry for the rant. There's a reason everyone uses FedEx.
