Shipping large tinfoil barbs

Ok Matt I am making a thread about it.

A friend of mine has 2 very large tinfoil barbs ( 14'' ) that has out grown his tank. He lives in North Dakota and I live in Alberta, Canada. What is the best way to ship these guys to me? 2 large plastic bags in a cooler for sure, but that about adding those bag buddies? The tablets that add oxygen to a bag. Over night shipping is a must. I know its going to cost around $100 for a box to be shipped over. Any methods he should be using to ship these guys? Any advice for shipping large fish?

best way is one med. sized stryo box per barb, with a bag inside. use just enough water to cover the fish (for maximum air space - these guys are heavy breathers at that size)

bag buddies are good. some water bottles filled with hot water packed inside make good heat packs.


this is how we used to recieve large pleco's from south america when I worked at big al's.
