I have 1 possibly 2 rays going to a new home today, the buyer wants me to pack them like they're going ap to ap being it's a 3-5 hour drive to Oregon from me..
My question is i always use pure O2 to fill the bags when i ship, and my buddys tank is empty and i can't get it refilled before the guy comes today to grab the rays. Can i use "Bag Buddies" to ship rays, or will just plain old air from my air pump work for a 3-5 hour trip ?? Any help would be great..

I have always used regular air. I have had 18 hour shipping times with no problems. Pour the water in the bag so that it gets lots of aeration and then close the bags from the top and twist down so they are tight with air. Just remember to tie both bags together not separate. Tieing them separate is a big no no

Cool cool.. Looks like regular air it is.. Yea i always use double bags and tie both together.. Thanks guys.

Why doesn't he want you to use a rubbermaid bin or something similar? I've never had any problems moving rays in them even with 5 hour drives. If you want to err on the side of caution use and inverter in your vehicle and a air pump and air stone or small established filter. This way you don't have to worry about the bag getting damaged and you can also bring another bucket of tank water with you if it's a longer trip.

If you bag them then you don't have to use as much water or worry about water spashing out if you have to stop fast. I like them locked up in a nice neat box :D

i use a cooler and a battery powered air pump

cut a small hole in the lid for the air tube to fit through so the lid still fits good

Your taking to much of risk to just use regular air, Your better off to use few bag buddies and or put them in a tub and use an airstone. But sending them with no pure 02 or airstone is not good idea.

lol much better than the rubbermaid. My coolers are for beer only but I may have to break down and do it up properly. :)
