Hey All,

Well I figured I mine as well start looking into this since I am sure in the not too far future I will be faced with shipping ray pups. Seems like the common practice is to go airport to airport with stingrays and I see this for adults and larger rays but is it needed for pups?

I have shipped saltwater fish all over the country, most of which were much more valuable then the marbled motoro pups I will be shipping in the future with great success using FedEx. I have shipping boxes and oxygen tanks just trying to figure out the most cost effective and easy approach to shipping rays. When I have done FedEx, I drop the fish off at 8:30 PM EST and they are generally to the destination by 10 AM the next day (pending how rural).

Has anyone used FedEx to ship rays or received rays by FedEx? Any experience would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I shipped pups FedEx before I started doing airport to airport, yes it can be done. I have also received rays thru FedEx. I prefer air cargo for two main reasons, first the cost, figure double to triple that of air cargo. Second the speed, air cargo is same day, and overnight at the worst if the miss a flight and get stuck somewhere. FedEx on the other hand if there is any problems, and I have had it happen with overnight shipments of blackworms I was receiving, your now looking at 2 days in transit.

Thanks for the info John. I kind of figured those were the deciding factors.

Have you used Delta for shipping before? Looking at airport / air line availabilty to me. Delta is the closest option being about 45 minutes away. Southwest (who it seems like most people on here like to use) is 3 hours away. Do I need to get certified / approved to ship with the airlines?
