I am interested in possibly selling some of my surplus baby african cichlids on this site, and i have a few questions about shipping and related things:

1. How big should fish be to be shipped? Or does it matter? The fish i would ship would be mostly malawi mbuna, which i can ship at any size.

2. What should i do to the fish prior to shipping?

3. Should the fish be individually bagged, or does it matter?

4. How are they shipped? Just fedex or whatever?

5. What does it cost to ship smaller amounts of fish (like 6 or less)

6. How do you pack them for shipping? Do you need pure oxygen/

Sorry for so many questions. I just want to make sure i get it all right. I have read the sticky in the buy and sell forum, but those were the things i was unclear on. Thanks!;)

the bigger the fish, the harder it is to ship..larger fish cant handle the stress as well....

You can use tank water, make sure its clean..Dont feed them for a couple of days, prior to shipping

Add some bag buddies and use heat packs if cold outside..
go to petsmart and ask them to fill your bags of fish with oxygen..

U can use usps, ups, fed-ex,dhl etc...

U can ship more then 1 fish in a bag if small and they are not going to fight...

Average cost of overnight is around 50-75 bux..hope this helps

so sending 5 $5 fish would end up costing like 15 - 20 bux a fish? Is there any way to make it economical to ship fish? As in only adding a few bux per fish for shipping?
