How long can a bichir (lets say 4") stay alive for in a shipping container? I was not home when the usps delivered my delhezi, and now I have to wait until 830 tomorrow at the earliest to pick him up, and was wondering if I should still have hope that he's alive. Toyin sent him Tuesday night, so it'll have been in its shipping container for about 48 hours if not more.

He should be fine...Toyin is an experienced shipper.

I have had fish from Rich (Infinite Aquatics) and Alex (Fish Room Plus) that was held up for more than 48 hours and they all made it..

Ok thanks, that makes me feel a lot better about my chances tomorrow. I'm planning on waking up early and trying to get him ASAP.

I think he should be OK as long as the temps arent extreme where he is being held. My brother "Kursed" had a couple of less than 1" dats held up in customs for 4 or 5 days in their bags and they were all OK. They weren't professionally packed either because i packed them..LOL. Good luck to the little guy!

Should be ok since they are tough fish and sometimes are caught in less than optimal water conditions. I was shipped a bunch of Haitian fry and it took almost 72 hours to get them and 2 of the 3 bags were 100% alive and about 25% of the 3 rd bag was doa but it probably was not the shipping as I am guessing one died early on and tainted the water.

I have had polys shipped priority, 72hours in the bag and they made it. Your delhezi should be fine, I would be very suprised if you came home to a dead fish.

Glad to here that.:) I didn't see your last post.

in feeding terms you should bee fine, the important things here are stress temp and air, if that is ok your fish can las a few days
