I have decided to ship fish myself now. How much would it cost to ship 6 4-5" clown loaches to 38261 from 48310 with live arrival guaranteed? What about a cheaper method with no live arrival guaranteed? Can you please quote price of using priority with usps, express with usps, fedex same day, fedex first overnight, etc.

If you can't answer that, how much do you think the box will weigh?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT ship USPS!

I ordered Koi and they were shipped post office... The box was 12 hours late, was damaged, the bags were punctured, and there was water leaking all over. They called me at 2am to tell me that they had my box.. It was shoved in the back of the delivery truck and forgotten about... I ended up losing one of the fish because of it all.

FED Ex and UPS is definitely the way to go!

I've purchased many fish with USPS shipping with no issues. ;)

honestly airport to airport is best way to ship fish. you know when the fish arrive... so you pick up the fish right after the plane lands.
Yep I agreed it's the best method to ensure the fish make it alive. However, it's a lot more work for the shipper and a little more costly.

Sorry to derail, does anyone have any experience what I need to do when bagging fish and preparing the fish for shipping? Do you add any chemicals? How long do I starve the fish before shipping?

It should cost about $60, that's a guss. Go fed X for sure. The fish is put under a lot of stress when shipping and clown loaches get ick so you may have an outbreak so be preraed for that. The less they stay in that bag the less stressed they are.,

Its cool man you're not derailing, I personally have never ship fish before but after my research:

  1. starve the fish minimum 48 hours
  2. you use bag buddies, prime, or amquel
  3. you can either use kordon breather bags (no need for oxygen) and make sure there is as little air as possible OR use regular bags and use a 1/3 water and 2/3 PURE oxygen
  4. make sure there is styroform in all 8 walls of the box
  5. individual fish in each bag
  6. double bag minimum, triple bag for fish with spines
  7. wrap newspaper around all fish bags
I've never shipped fish before, but this is what I think you do. If I made a mistake please correct me. Is USPS really that bad? Many people use USPS and seems fine.
