they say that you can lessen aggression in red tail sharks and the like by keeping them in groups of 3-5 or more. so what if you kept like 20 bettas in a 55 or something? i'm not going to try it, but i just think that this is an interesting topic. please post any of your opinions, and thanks in advance:)

I think it would be a waste of some bettas as they would constantly fight.

well actually it might work if the tank was a 55 and theyre were about 10 bettas instead of twenty my neighbor has 3 in his 55 along with other assorted fish betas are very teritorial but still one betta only controls a small area the larger the tank the more betta teritories there can be:naughty:

i remember watching on animal planet before that there was a tank full of bettas
they breed 2 bettas and all the babies i think grew up in the same tank and none of them fought
they said if they removed the dad they would all start fighting

actually a PHD student wrote a paper about this exact subjec awhile ago I read it it was a very good read.. but the jist of it was that as long as you have a dominant male you can keep hundreds together with no problem just when the dominant male is removed there is gonna be war untill there is a new dominant male chosen....
