Looking for some shoaling / schooling fish for my 100gallon tank.

Right now it's stocked with a chuco godmanni pair, a 3" male trimac and (2) 1.5" trimac females.

Was going to get some yellowtail botias from apexden, but am now having second thoughts. Had a conversation with aclockworkorange about some bimaculatus tetras and think they are a tad too spendy.

Thinking about Colombian tetras now, but wanted to get some opinions and maybe some other suggestions.

Mainly looking for fish that will be active together and occupy the mid to upper portion of the tank.

What do you guys think?

Oh and forgot to add that silver dollars or red hooks are too big for my taste.

ever looked in to rainbow fish? some amazing colors and come in tiny to rather large sizes..what size are you looking for?

I dont really want anything that will get over 3-4". Do Microgeophagus Ramirezi school together?

no not that I know of

Madagascar Rainbows are really nice and are schooling ^_^
this is a male..females have white edged fins not orange.

Rams are cichlids not scoaling fish, they'll act similarly to the larger cichlids, just in a smaller package!! I think anything under that gets under 3 inches will get ate by those Trimacs later. What about some Roseline Barbs?? They get up to 5-6 inches I've read and school and move around pretty quick from what I've heard!!

Yea, I wasnt sure if Rams schooled. Thanks for the Roseline suggestion. I'll look into them. ;-)

So far it's: (by rank)

1. Columbian Tetras
2. Rummynose Tetras
3. Harlequin Rasboras

Does anyone have 1st hand experience with any of these in a CA/SA tank?
