So I recently bought a 250w aqueon heater to go with the 150w already in my tank because it gets cold in my room. The 150w can hold the tank steady around 78 but it can't boost it up to 84 for my flowerhorn. Laying in bed tonight I hear this loud "popping" sound to realize it's coming from my tank. I thought it might have been the FH glass banging because I added a female amph. xilo today divided. Nope, not the FH the element in the heater is glowing bright red, unplug it and the noise goes away. The heater is less then a month old where my other aqueon heater is over a year old. Murphy's law I suppose, got the new fish today, poof one heater. At least the other is still chugging. Just venting.
Shoot me now, heater took a dump

You could probably return the heater for a new one. Just thinking glass half full.

It's the regular one, they were out of the pro's. I bought it actually right after hurricane Sandy.
I have a heater of the same brand...hope this is not a sign of things to come.
