Shopping for a Camcorder - Sony versus Canon?

We are in the market for a new camcorder, something with HD video in the $350-$700 range. It seems a lot of the Sony camcorders are not all that compatible with Mac, so I've started looking at Canon as well.

Has anyone bought a new camcorder? Pros/cons?

I would especially love to hear from any Mac users that have recently bought a camcorder, I really want something that will upload easily to my computer.

I was recently in the market for a new camera & looked @ the pros/cons Sony/Canon.
After seeing both manufacturers best cameras I ended up with a SONY.
The model I bought was Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V . It has everything I need & so much more. Yeeey.
The price was decent @ an average 400.00 US Dollars.

but I use Windows & couldn't tell you about Mac Options.
