i know its pushing it but im asking any way. can a SB sen live its whole life (or atleast the first 3 years) in a 20 long and be ok? the tank is 30"L x 12"W in case you didnt know. and i ask because the primer says the minimum tank size for senegals is a 30 gallon, which has the dimensions of 36"L x 12"W, its only 6" longer than my tank. is that such a big deal?

Yeah you can, maybe even 3. Use a small canister filter like xp1 for filtration and you're set!

Yes it can be done.I just don't recomend it.

thanks for the feedback. ya Anne im with ya on that one, i hate to think of it in such small quarters its just i love polys so much and im not allowed to set up a bigger tank. so im trying to work with what iv got for now. oh and iv got a fluval 3 plus right now, i think thats right, its the one rated for 30 gallons (it barely fits in this tank) shouldnt that be enough filtration?

okay I was once strapped for space when I first moved out on my own and only
had room for a 20 long.Yes I put a senegal in it,this was before they were farmed in quanity. She seemed happy enough and grew to 12" TL.The tank had a Won brothers titanium submersible heater and 2 Ac filters one on each end of the tank.I want to say they were AC30s but I forget right now it was a while ago.But remember i had had some 14 years of fishkeeping, and my maintenence schedule was well maintained-Anne
