Hi there. I'm interested in hearing about and seeing pictures of short body cichlids, especially member owned ones. I'm not interested in arguments about ethics/looks etc but feel free to discuss this if you want. I would also like to keep this topic about pure cichlids or at least no FH/BP. I myself have owned short body convicts, blue/gold rams and a midas (midevil probably). I once saw a short body jack dempsey in a shop that was not for sale and a tank of short body firemouths. I've also seen examples online of short body oscars, green terrors, geophagus, texas cichlids and even a jaguar cichlid.

Thanks :)

My LFS has a tank of balloon Bolivian Ram dwarf cichlids, it is the only place I've seen anything like that besides those short bodied Flowerhorns. I will try to get a picture next time I am in there!

They are actually pretty common in shops around here. Bizarrely I find them hardier than the normal ones.

That is pretty interesting. I have never kept dwarf cichlids and don't know much about them so I thought they were pretty unusual.

I had (briefly) a short body GT. rehomed him due to space but in my personal opinion, full body fish look better. Oh and my LFS has ballon Texans. Do a photo of the GT tank in a min.

Couldn't find any of the tank on my phone but I got more of the more normal looking ones... I'll post the ballon Texans next time I go to my LFS.

P.S. Sorry for poor quality, phone photos.
