Hi everyone, a couple months ago, i purchased a "Dinosaur Birchir" from PetSmart, it was really small, about 1-2" I noticed he wasn't growing fast, or at a normal rate as normal Birchirs do, and i did research and found out he's a Short Body, i was kids bummed out, but i still kept caring for him, he's about 4-5" now, and is pretty thick, i was just wondering if anyone could tell me how big i should expect him to grow and in how long? Any info helps, Thanks!

Just because he is small and not growing fast does not mean is is a SB, but CB sens tend to grow slower once they get past the 4"-5" mark. He will most likely not exceed 8"-10"

Isn't the distinctive way to tell is the spines on their back? 7=SB 9=Regular? do you think he will be able to hold his own is a 150 with other 12"+ Fish?

no those numbers are the average for senegals for sens having one or the other does not mean it is either a SB or normal. And depending on the other fish it could hold it's own.

What are you feeding? What's the tank size and water change schedule? My cb sen grew hardly at all until I got him on a better (higher protein) diet.

It grew 3 inches in a couple of months? That seems like a normal growth rate to me.

Currently feeding Wardleys Shrimp Pellets from Wal-Mart, Blood worms, & Brine Shrimp, he's in a 55 gal. grow out till he gets big enough to go into my 150. about 30% weekly W/C. & i guess im just being impatient.

I'd switch the pellet to a hikari or NLS pellet specifically for carnivores; they will give him more protein. It's hard to wait while they grow!
