Actually short body carpintis are hybrids, they're a cross between a carpintis "green texas" cichlids, and a blood parrot cichlid. When you mate these 2 species you'll end up with short body carpintis, and then you'll also get what's known as "the cheap" red texas cichlid (unlike selective breeding programs like in taiwan, etc... that are geared towards bright red texas cichlids aka super red texas cichlids(.

Not always. There are naturally occurring short body Texas with no blood parrot genes in its blood.

Mahsfish is correct. Plus I don't think taiwan is know for breeding red texas, you are thinking of Thailand, there is a difference. Hybrid, line bred, color morphs are all appreciated by the same type of hobbiest.
