Short body flower horn advice?

I'd like to get one of these good looking fish. I was told the stay smaller than the regulars. They also look a lot like blood parrot fish with flowerhorn pattern. My main question is will the mix with normal cichlids like jack dempseys and blood parrot cichlids. My LFS has the for $30. Is this a decent price?
