Picked up this guy the other day. Was labeled kirin parrot. Anyone know exactly what this might be? 20181117_085144.jpg 20181117_084202.jpg

That is a short body flowerhorn. Kirin parrots have the blood parrot like mouth and their shape is also like a blood parrot.

It's so funny how this fish is pretty much a 2" head with a tail but has the personality of a 12" dovii. 20181119_204843.jpg

That’s a flowerhorn for you. Although I think they get their crazy aggression and pure nastiness from the amps. Red devil/midas. My red devil was 6 inches before I had to get rid of him and in one night he ate 6x 2-3 inch Buenos Aires tetras I was trying to use as dithers and absolutely shredded up my 7 inch Jack dempsey. I find my flowerhorn to be much more tame but still actually show their aggression while amps are like the psychopaths of cichlids. My red devil would the calmest fish in the world but when it felt like it would go ballistic and purge on all the other fish. I definitely want to try keeping another one in the future possibly a midas but definitely solitary next time.

I've had a couple red devils in the past. It never lasted long before I had to get rid of them. Great fish though if you want to give it a tank to itself. I got my flowerhorn in a 70gal with a 3" green texas and I'm already going to have to put the texas in another tank.
