Picked up this little guy a couple weeks. He's about 2-2.5" and in a 20g for now. Moving him up to a new 40 once I finish building the stand.

Nice female unfaded red texas! Keep us updated on it looks stunning. Came across many green texas bonsai before but hard to come by a red texas bonsai.

Its a female due to the markings on the dorsal fine. Black blotch is usually a dead give away and they breed at that size.

thanks and i did have a feeling it was a female just didnt wanna jump the gun before i vented. she may be going in with my smaller male fh in that case. pic of the male below originally thought he was a she thanks to the upper flower line extending into the dorsal.

They both look female. The one with a hump is a triple row ZZ flowerhorn. The black spots are almost indicitive of a female. Why did you change your mind from female to male?

was just about to post how i was proven wrong yet again. her egg tube is down right now so i think im gonna take the divider out and let her have a go with my big male.

just took this you can see the tube down on the bottom. misjudged the shape of the vent and her kok has grown quite a bit since that last pic

Yeah it's a female just was curious why you thought it was a male. Nice looking fish! Wouldn't mind a female with a nice kok haha sounds disgusting

when i vented i thought it looked more pointed like a males, bad judgement on my part. i've had the divider out for for a little while now and the male is still being kinda aggressive. she's been hiding since he beat her up a bit but pokes out of the cave every once in a while.
