I have seen a few mentions of different short body fish posted here, people owing them or looking for them. I have all ways thought it was an undesirable trait or a deformation when fishes bodies were short and blunt.

I think I saw some one mention a duck bill tsc, surly people don't think that's a cool or good trait. I thought that was either an injury or deformation.

These are deformities ar'nt they? What's the deal with this subject?

Thanks...Joel

there are also short body bichers, aro's

When I was working at PetSmart, we got a short-body Oscar.. It looked like a parrot fish almost, as it had NO length to its body at all.. Almost round like a severum..It was kind of neat, but unfortunetly I hate oscars and didn't want to take it home..

Do you guys think breeders are intentially trying to make this a dominate trait (kind of like the baloon body molly-yuk!!) Or do you think they appear from time to time as a mistake.

I wouldn't own screwed up deformed looking fish personally

i have some short bodied bichirs, they're not round like that one freakish picture going around, but they're definitely shorter than a normal one. I kind of like the look. I have regular bichirs as well, I like them equally. In the case of mine, it's not stunted growth, it's gotta be in the genetics.
