Short Nose Gar

Hello MFK'ers,

I trying to conduct a study on certain gar species and the shortnose gar fell on the spectrum. I was wondering if anyone here has any idea where to acquire one or if there is any aquaculture around them. I was looking at a few of the hatcheries and made some phone calls but seems to be futile. If anyone knows any hatcheries or any breeders, please let me know!

Unfortunately the only place I knew of was TFD but they went out of business a long time ago. You might try Predatory Fins though. I've watced his youtube channel and seems as though he has people who fish for him to get his Florida Gars. As such he maybe able to source you a shorty. Or as suckerfish suggested you might try sourcing one yourself.
