Shortbody flowerhorn scared

I'm looking to get a short body flowerhorn from the local fish store..
Everything I have gone in there he is hiding it's been at least 3 weeks now...
I like his color but don't want a fish that hides all the time.....
Should I keep looking or will he come around?
I have a 45 gal. Hex I was told he can go in there.....
Suggestions please.......

Get a fish that shows personality and is active instead? That fish is probably just not used to the foot traffic at the lfs and isn't a particularly bold fish.

If you buy him he will eventually come around. Especially once he associates you with food!!
