Shortbody flowerhorn scared

I'm looking to get a short body flowerhorn from the local fish store..
Everything I have gone in there he is hiding it's been at least 3 weeks now...
I like his color but don't want a fish that hides all the time.....
Should I keep looking or will he come around?
I have a 45 gal. Hex I was told he can go in there.....
Suggestions please.......

First, the fish is in the store where all water parameters are OFF the chart that lead to stresses, diseases and depend on size, if small it's normal for the fish to hide, if it has decent size then its stressed or sick.
Second, if you want it you will need a tank that bigger than 45 Gallons to house it for life.
*Fish act differently in LFS and in your tank at home, if it not sick it will come out once its established in your tank with good water condition and diet.
