Hey just bought a group of these today. what a find! and in petsmart of all places :nilly: anyways. ive never seen an adult of these. does anyone own one that would like to share a picture? if i breed sb female to regular male will i get short bodies? what do u get with sb male with female bloodparrot? r the males sterile? they really cute. i know u guys dont like hybrids but i couldnt resist. good thing cichlaholics anonymous is tall if not i wouldnt have seen them. im too short to see in the top tanks at petsmart :/
 
why u gotta make fun? :( i know its stupid but i found them cute.
 
Just be careful when selecting them look for fin deformity and also make sure their spines are not bulged on either side of their bodies. Breeding with a non sb should get you a few sb fry. Crossing them with a female blood parrot will result in sterile males yes. You got any pictures?
 
They look really good. not deformed. just shortbodied. like balloon rams. they dont have blood parrot deformed mouths. they have regular convict mouths which i was glad to see. I bought the whole group 4 of them, i think they are all females though. bright orange bellies, red/orange fins really cute.. they are tiny about dime sized. im eager to see what these gals grow into. i was hoping to find a picture of adults but everyone only has pink sbs. i made them their own little tank 20g for now. i would take pics but they were really stressed so i want to give them chance to relax. tomorrow perhaps :)
 
Prrrrtttt i just realized i spelled short wrong. i cant fix it anymore :(
 
Little update. they are doing great. still not showing any diformities they just have extremely round bodies. the two dominant females are growing faster now quarter sized. i seperated the two larger females into a 55g and left the other two who i believe to be the sub females as they havent grown. stay tuned for pics this weekend.
 
Well they r allll females. maybe they will breed with something cool in my tank. any cool mixes that can be done with these? Maybe breed them with my male platinum honduran red point and make short bodied red points lol
