Well, I was moving one of the shortnose gars from the 55g to the 125g with the others. He was pushing 13", and was past time to be moved. Well, he didn't want to go, and unfortunately my biggest net is only 10" wide :irked:. He splashed water all over me getting him out of the 55, and then just as I was dumping him in the 125, he flipped his tail, bounced off my chest, and landed on the hardwood floor. He sat still for a second, then started flipping around. I got him back in the net and dumped him in the tank.

He seems to be swimming around fine, and doesn't seem to be stunned or injured in any way. I'm gonna keep an eye on him, but is there anything else I need to do?

Oh yah, I also moved the spotted gar into the 55g from the 20L. He's at about 9.5", since he almost didn't fit into the 10" net. He's a much brighter silver base color than the shortnose, but with much darker spotting all over his body. I'll take some pics once he settles in.

Tough fish! I'd just keep an eye out for any fungus on split fins, if any...

Alligators with fins on, those - love 'em!

I'd like to try some of those fish that you keep or something similar - maybe a wells catfish in a collapsible swimming pool in the garage to deter (or consume) the bad guy's. Trouble is he'd eat my furry cats when they fell in or he went walkies when hungry.

Something interesting for the 0-20C temp range and there is space...

A big carp might be doable - come and see my goldfish :-) I've already got a more than two footer in the pond!

nice! my one florida is named houdini. why you ask? he jumped 3 times when i was putting him in the 125g. give pics!

He seems fine now. He's chowing down some feeders as I write this, so I don't think he'll have any lingering effects. The spotted is also eating feeders with gusto in the 55g, so it looks like they both took the transition pretty well.

good!
