Here are some pictures of my Lepisosteus oculatus (true Spotted Gar named Latus) and my Lepisosteus platostomus (my Shortnose Gar named Tomus). They are growing out nicely in a 56g wide. Both are around 6.5"-7". Eating tilapia and frozen krill, and sometimes minnows.

Many of these shots look the same, but I don't bring the camera downstairs too often so I am posting them all! If you can't tell which gar is which then get out of here! (jk...) Enjoy!

Very nice gar friends. Love the last pic.

Thanks. The tank is kept at somewhat black-water conditions, so it's hard to get bright pictures.

Also, excuse all the snails. They help keep the tank in shape and I feed them by the handful to my loach tank.

nice gars. good luck with your shortnose. i live in constant fear of mine hurting itself every time I get close to it

Thanks. Mine has calmed down a lot since I added the spotted gar to its tank. They seem to relax one another.

nice! i see u have alittle aggression in there. typical but not bad. u should see some of mine. lol.

awesome! looks like the fishes are doing great! that's quite the nice spotty pattern on the shortnose there too; amazing how variable that species can be. looks like the spotted is coming along nicely too.--

Thanks Solomon, and thanks again for the spotted.

hi i have a spotted gar and it has this bright shiny silver path towards its back on the left side. He's acting normal but this is strange and i've never seen it before. does anybody know what this is.
