First he kills off my archer, then eats my bichir whole... now i come home today and my freakin clownknife is in his mouth as he's swimming around the tank. im like WTF :WHOA:


i bang on the glass n he lets go. the ck is still alive n was still swimming but it was like the ck gave up on life already. he has teeth marks all over his freakin whole body but his fins are still good. i seperated him n put him with a pair of small oscars for now. but damn this guys mean as hell...

anyone lookin for a 12-14" shortnose gar? he's not as mellow as my spotted gars.
 
Wish i was near id take that bad a@@ off ure hands , sounds like a crazy fish.
 
What size are the other fish in comparison to the gar?
 
Umm...It's a predator.
 
he's around 13" and the clownknife is around 11. the bichir was about 10". the archer was much smaller so his death didn't surprise me.
 
like ghost said...its a predator...its what it does...it hunts....my cuban beheaded an archer, disembowled a koi and tried to bite my 24 inch silver aro. (the last one didnt quite work out cuz the silver turned arnd and attacked him.)
 
Late on this but you have a Shortnose that does not want to bang it's self senseless and kill it's self? Thats a special fish there worth cherishing and keeping.

Are you sure of the ID as being a shorty? this just does not fit typical shortnose mentality. Alligator or Hybrid yep..... but not a typical shortnose. Platostomus are usually psycho skiddish and just plain jumpy fish that have issues. It is rare where you find one that relaxes well and becomes aggressive or much of a predator.
