Hi all,

I would love a Flower ray to add to my 600 but currently have 2 Hystrix, 2 Motoro and a Leo. All are 6-9". I know Flower's are more sensitive but I have also seen folks house them with other rays with no issues. I would not have anything against parting ways with a Hystrix and a Motoro to lighten the load.

I also have other fish in there as well: Silver Arowana, Altifrons, Payaras, etc. Nothing that messes with the rays.

Am I on the road for disaster with getting a Flower or do you think it could work?

I say don't do it.
Hystrix would be alright combo, but taking a risk with motoro and Leo IMO
I will not try flowers again with any other tar but other flowers.
They are the prettiest rays out there tho!!!

I would not really say they are sensitive, they just do not handle stress well and take longer to acclimate. Once acclimate they are pretty tough, they tend to be more aggressive and like to bite but that varies ray to ray. If you got one be prepared to have bite marks on your other rays and hope that one of your current rays does not decide to be aggressive toward the flower as the flower will probably not survive long term aggression.

I used to keep 2 flower ray with Leo henlie and tiger with no problem , don't see why can't keep them together

I currently have a 7"marble motoro (very agressive eater) with a 10" orbignyi male and a new 14" flower male. The orb abd flower bumo head sometimes during feeding but nothin major. If anything someone is biting the flower as I see red marks sometimes. Seems okay and even survived a 3 hour move only days after being in my tank.

Flower is a little slower on the eating and often takes a break midway. Either way it had developed a fat belly almost every other feeding when the smaller orb and motoro are full.

If anything I worry my motoro female will be a bully later one might apply with a leo as well but I've never had one.

Give it a try if your ready to move some rays around or part with one if problems arise.

On a side note my flower takes massivore like a champ as well as shrimp and talapia so maybe mine is just a good eater.
