Here's the deal, I've got 1.2 (1 m 2f) G.steindachneri currently about 2.5" in a 55 gallon tank and I'm trying to decide whether or not to move them into my main tank. The male is chasing both females a lot but seems to be more tolerant of one of them.
Main tank is a 150 (72"x18"x 27") currently housing 1.2 Australoheros oblongum, 1.2 Crenicara punctulata, 2.2 Geophagus parnaibae, unsexed Hemidoras stenopeltis and several unsexed corydoras.
So, do you think the G.steindachneri male will become a bully in that tank or will the rest of the fish give him enough of a challenge so that he will chill and mingle.

I'd be a little worried with the true Geophagus ... they are close enough in shape that the male might harass them a bit. Other than that, the others could easily put him in his place ... and the extra size would help the females. Would be worth a try, just keep an eye on the true Geophagus ...

it seems worth a try, steineys are rough for geos, but for the most part not particularly aggressive in comparison
