So I noticed this yesterday, my tiger shovelnose had a really lumpy, roundish belly. He usually has a sleek, body line, but is this anything to be worried about?
the injury I am fairly certain came from getting zapped by one of the motoro's. Seems like each one of my fish in the tank have had a small run in with them. The others all stay away now... lol
Hopefully he is just a pig and ate himself fat. Thats a good thing isn't it? lol.
Looks like he ate well, is all. Did you feed your tank or someone else? If you did, you should know.
If you fed your tank and this is a sudden and unexpected phenomenon, then, as stated, I'd check the stock to make sure he has not eaten a tank mate and check the hardware in case he swallowed an inedible object but it does not look like one, unless it is soft, like a sponge or a plastic plant decoration or something.
I don't think so because this would be highly unusual and rare for a TSN, but sometimes fish can swallow substrate/gravel, for example, when pursuing and catching the prey. Unless, an enormous amount is swallowed, they usually pass it just fine.
Sometimes, they may do it to help pass/unblock an intestinal clog.
But I think in all likelihood, your TSN has merely lucked out and good more food than usual during the feeding frenzy.
It is so weird, every time I feed, he goes nuts, literally hoovering the food off the bottom till he gets that round belly, looking like he is about to burst... freaks me out each time I see it, but it goes away in a few days.
The RTC does that too. His mouth skims the ground just inhaling chunks of shrimp. Kinda funny to watch.
