Got home from work today to find my red Texas with shredded fins upside down :( at first I put it down to a crazed jardini attack as they have had a few little fights of recent , and no signs off disease from what I can tell on my other fish , my water P's aren't too bad a trace of ammonia showing up and nitrates of about 30 (my tanks stocked full so it's always quite high) but no signs of ammonia burns on other fish , I've done a 40% WC and will do the same tomorrow to lower them uploadfromtaptalk1423003852809.jpguploadfromtaptalk1423003871142.jpg
There is a lot of red on its fins but they were reddish to start with and it could have been caused by the jar attacking , anyone else think its ammonia burns ? Or disease I've not spotted ?
All my other fish seem fine no burns on catfish whiskers or undersides etc , I might be being a bit paranoid it could just be jardini strikes again :banghead:

That does not look good.

I would imagine that things are pretty serious if the fish was upside down when you came home. The jar might have had about enough of the red Texas sharing the tank with him.

I know mate its got me nervous as hell I'm going Amsterdam Thurs morn till Sunday too :( I've seen similar things happen to a big fh with my other jar , the rt was feeding fine last night and when I got home it was in top corner of tank in a plant hiding , but it looked like its fins were that damaged it couldn't support itself and once that happens :banghead:

If you don't have another tank to place the Texas in maybe you can get a tank divider...If the injuries don't do him in the stress from the constant attacks surely will.

That's already happened mate its dead in that PIC :( I put a divider straight away but I couldn't support itself upright , if its happened from a fight I can live with it , but I'm worried about rest of my stock (hopefully I'm being paranoid )

Oh.I didn't think that the fish was dead when I saw the photo, sorry for the loss.

Do you regularly have traces of ammonia? Your ammonia should really be at zero. Not sure if ammonia was related to your loss but if you regularly have low levels of ammonia it will take a toll on your fish.

Its never usually ammonia that I have issues with my nitrates are usually a bit to high , a couple of weeks ago I crammed one of my fx6's full of media so it had extra in to try bump my bb up , possible ammonia spike caused ? I'll do another big WC tonight just worried its something more serious but everything else is swimming around fine
