I have an 85 gallon long tank(6 feet long). I have two fish, one 7ish inch Jack Dempsey cichlid, and one 7 inch rtc. I don't plan on having the rtc much longer as he will get far too big. I want to buy a gar and an arowana but I want to make sure they will get along somewhat with my other fish.

neither one would work in that tank long term. that size tank restricts your choices alot

85 with 6' long... How's that even work? 6 x .5 x 1 sounds goofy looking

Yeah its only 85. I want to keep it until its too big for the tank and then sell it. I just want to know if it will get Along with my fish.

so its pretty much a 55 with 2 more feet added. why buy fish that you will have to get rid of sooner rather than later?

There are some smaller false gar species that would work in that tank but none of the true gars will last in there very long, and no arowana will last in there very long at all, only thing close to an aro is an african butterfly fish but they don't swim gracefully like aro's do they just chill at the surface most of the time
