I've been checking craigslist periodically to find a decent sized tank. Found a 300 gallon for 75 bucks, but he says it had a leak and he fixed it, but he's not sure how long it will last. Seeing as he's selling this tank, and it's so cheap I'm assuming its still probably gonna be leaky. But still, a 300 gallon for 75 bucks is hard to beat. Worth the trouble of fixing the leak? I've never done any sealing other than on small diy jobs like sealing a homemade co2 reactor.

You see that's what I was thinking, even if I couldn't manage to patch the leak I could probably get someone to do it for cheap if I already had the glass

I ran across a 200gal with broken glass for $250 yesterday.
I did not buy it. I also did not send a nasty email but I wanted to.

300g for $75...Sweet deal!!! I'd snatch it up with the quickness!!! I bought a 180g this spring off of e-bay for $60. The bottom glass was cracked on the 2' dimension.. I repaired it and it has been up and running since with no leaks for the past 5 months or so.

I'd jump on it for $75 :naughty:...

Find out where the leak is. If its in the seams, its a pretty easy fix. I have had to repair a 300 gallon and am in the process (I keep procrastinating) of repairing another. Super easy to do as long as you have the time. As long as there are not a bunch a cracks in the tank, it should be a super easy fix...maybe not even worth a DIY thread...which is good for you!:grinno:

thats a deal you cant beat like ever do it but it does depend on the size of the leak but if it continued id imo would take it apart and cut the glass into smaller pieces but try to keep it large..itd be like 290G then but it works lol
