I just came from my local fish store and found 2 silver/asian arowanas. They looked good. Not stunning though. They were about 8" each and the Guy there said that it was a male and a female pair !!!

Should i believe it ?

I assumed it to be true because, the 2 and only 2 arowanas were swimming close to each other as in circles and resembles a spawning behavior. :headbang2

Not sure as to how much correct i am. But i had seen a few vids of arowana spawnings on youtube. That made me believe so. Is it possible they can spawn at a very early age at a length of just 7" to 8" ???

I can add a few pics/vids if needed later.

The guy is probably bsing u. Thats not possible for them to breed at that small of a size and its almost impossible to tell if they are a pair at that size but i remember one member here I THINK that cud tell at a smal size if they were male or femal by their head proportion. My memory is a little fuzzy on that.

You should ask him how he knows that they are male and female. Listen for a long pause, that usually means he's grinding the bs gears. Id only buy them if they are really cheap. I usually find that I appreciate a fish more when I find it then when it finds me. Or at least I run into it knowing that someday I planned on getting one. Good luck.

Thanks for the genuine replies folks. I guess i will stick to Flower horns itself.

All replies / suggestions are appreciated :)

What do you mean by 2 silver/asian arowanas? Like 1 silver and one asian?

Do you have the means to house two arowana? You do know how big they get and what size tank they need? You are aware of how low the odds are of successfully keeping two arowana together in the same tank?

Aros doing circles around each other most of the is a sign of dominance not a breeding pair. Only a matter of time and one will dominate while the other swims away trying to avoid a beating.
