I found a deal FINALLY! Someone in town is selling a 8x2x2 acrylic for 200. Should I buy it? It comes with the stand and thats it. I'm going to go look at it and see what kind of condition its in. The person used it for turtles so they only had it half full.

what should I look for when I look at it? It's an acrylic and it would go in my house, I have no garage or basement. I REALLY want it but am nervous about leaks since my 122 leaked on me. Didn't cause any damage though. How thick should the acrylic be? she said there's a little separation on the top. So I could weld a piece of acrylic to repair that. Other rhan that it has overflows on it.

Forsure buy it. That's a perfect tank size at least how I prefer it.

This is my dream size, after this I wouldn't even look at another tank!! Going to go take a look soon

Acrylic won't leak if it has good seams, just check for white crusty stuff in the corners. I'd def go get it just remember you will prob have to buff it.

I looked at the tank and had to pass. It has several cracks on top around the cut outs and whited out seams on the front and back. Its a mess! It makes my scary acrylics look brand new! They said they were gonna take it to the dump. Even if it was free I wouldn't take it!

I did pick up an acrylic 55 gallon for 20.00 from someone else, needs a lot of buffing, but I don't mind. I ordered a bunch of novus yesterday.

i would have taken it for free cause then you could have done something else with it.... like make a sump out of wood braces and acrylic sides.

if it was free(after the seller said he/she was gonna take it to the dump) shoulda still took it if doesnt leak. a crack on the top where the cut out is should really matter. you could have used that for a number of different things after a good buffing & a little work. Ex: a herp tank or as the original owners used for turtles or as the above poster stated a huge sump. be creative :D
