Hey people!

I absolutely love this tank and want this combo but i know Fronts are best kept around 8pH. Now my tanks and tap water are at 7 to 7.4...

What do you guys say about keeping Fronts at a lower pH? I am a firm believe in consistency of water params and not so much the level of pH but it bothers me with Frontosas.

What do you guys reckon? Give it a go or no go?

FYI...this is an example of a properly set up front tank (rocks)

Keep that in mind when mixing fish like that.

I think you are right that consistency is more important. Find out the pH of your suppliers tanks. If they are located near you the readings between yours and his should be close. Captive bred fish are also able to adjust more readily to different pH levels. I would not think the Frontosas would have much trouble at 7.4. Personally, I would not put Frontosas with p bass or with the arowana. Frontosas are big but pretty meek and they don't look so good all torn up.

Yea, I wouldnt put Fronts with Peacock bass, Flowerhorns, or an Arrowana. Also Krzr3000 is right. Fronts perfer a rock setup.

I agree with tarheels. Frontosas are magnificent cichlids by themselves. They form colonies and become very friendly towards each other and the owner. when they are in a species tank, they don't feel as threatened, so their true personality and vigor shows.

however, you just don't throw in 8-9 fronts and think they will be a colony... often they need to grow together, often the new front if added to a colony will be killed... I have added mine together over time, but they are in a tank with other fish and add other fish with them to keep them busy... not to single people out...
