My 3 inch jag got super beat up overnight and has super tattered fins and is missing an eye. Should I put him out or try to heal as best I can?

In my opinion I would try to heal him, only because I've seen 1 eyed fish before and do just fine.

if he just got beat up and he/she isnt swimming and just stuck staight or barely swimming at all. You need to do it asap to save him from the pain of dying. Because in cases as such, there's no way out. The next day or two it'll just die anyway.. But if he/she is still swimming and running away, it'll make it.

Got a video?

Separate, melafix, a small elevation in temp and ill bet the jag pulls through. I've saved too many fish that "had no chance in living through that" to not give them even a small shot. If add a little (half the recommended dose) aquarium salt as well to help with slime coat and wound clotting.

+1 jags are very tough. Separate it and begin treatment. Tattered fins don't mean death and I've seen fish that have lost both eyes live healthy lives

One of the lfs here has a jag names One Eye Jack as a store pet. You can guess why lol

I have a black moor with those "bubbly eyes" that has no eyes anymore. The catfish I would assume attacked and the moor just has empty sockets. Little smaller than the rest, but otherwise is doing fine for months now.

If it can fees itself and swim...i would give it the chance to live bro...but wouldn't he be weaker now and get picked on more?

I've kept a S. Fryeri with one eye in a tank with mbunas, peacocks, and other haps. He held his own with the mbuna and thrived but that's african.
What beat up the jag? Can you tell? What is your tank stocked with? If it was a larger convict or firemouth I'd say rehabilitate and keep it in but if it was a dovii or something like that then your jag has a significantly lower chance of making it in the future and you may want to think about your plan of action accordingly.
