Ant larvae just seem like a realy great source of food. Should i stay away from fire ants or other stinging ants or are they ok?

Has anyone here ever fed their fish ant larvea?

It seems like people just don't do it because ants are hard to deal with, but I don't realy mind. If there is no reason why I shouldn't I will either take a big shovel full of ant mound and refrigerate it, then separate the larvae or I will see if a bucket of water can help separate the young from the dirt and the adults.

For that matter, are adult ants ok to feed fish?

I wouldnt feed any wild insects as there could be possibility of pesticides...

I basically live in the middle of a forest and I have wild fish that come from golf course runnoff waters so that's not going to be a problem that I care about. I'm more interested in wether or not ants are particularly dangerous.

Aren't golf course run-off full of pesticides and chemicals to keep the fairways and greens in good condition? I used to play golf and we were even told not to lick your golf ball before you hit it and make sure you wash your hands before eating anything. The Doctor.

Yes, I was pointing out that the water the fish came from was full of pesticides and that any insects I gave them would not make a difference.

That's not the point though. Are ants safe to feed to fish?????????

PS why would you lick a golf ball.
