So long story short, petco had a fahaka puffer with no label. They had spotted and figure eights which were labeled so i said can i have a spotted puffer, which were only 3.99, and i picked out the fahaka and checked out. So i got my first ever puffer for a steal. Should i feel bad about this? Lol.

Personally I did the same thing Petsuppliesplus had a 2 1/2 inch Synodontis Angelicus mixed in with lace catfish another species so I immediately said give me that one.:) Didn't feel an ounce of guilt. Purchased for $6.99

Nope. I would feel bad if I did that to a hobbyist, we'll I mean I wouldn't do it, but I don't feel bad for you doing it to petco. A) have you seen the recent thread about where they get their fish from? B) you know the markup they make on fish? C) it's their responsibility to label and sell their products appropriately, including training their employees, d) they make enough money off people, e) it takes two parties to complete a transaction, you didn't steal this. I would feel really good about myself, don't lose an ounce of sleep over the petco ceo, he is not missing the difference.

My answer would be totally different if you did this to a hobbyist though, taking advantage of an individually is different than taking advantage of a large company.

I wouldn't feel bad...feeling bad, is when you make friends with the people working in fish stores; so that you go in for a small number of fish, and end up with triple the number, at a price cheaper than 1 or 2...

I actually end up with more fish than I actively want, even when I say to them not to

When it comed to big corporations then i woulnt feel bad, as stated above, its their job to label things correctly...

In Hong Kong a similar situation happened where they mis-labelled the price on a product, it was almost half the price it should be, but i paid the lower sticker price, since over here you can actually get stores into a legal bind for false advertising if they try and raise the sticker price at checkout...

Even when I pointed it out plenty of times they go well that's what I gotta sell it at. I'm like your saying a black convict is 24.99 being sold as Flowerhorn and he goes yup. Trust me someone will buy it I go okay...I went there three months after and it's still there lol

What would happen if they sold it to someone that didn't know what it was? Carnage is what would happen.

This fish isn't for your typical fishkeeper, much less someone(vast majority of chain store patrons) who thinks a 55gal tank is HUGE!

Personally, I think you did them, and the fahaka, a big favor......no moral dilemma as far as I'm concern
