I currently have a 10" gar, 2 frontosa (3" and 6") and a 9" ornate bichir in a 120 gallon 4 x 2 x 2 tank.

My LFS has two rainbow snakeheads around 3" long and I am wondering if it will go in my tank. The gar wouldn't eat it at his current size so I don't think that would be an issue. Does anyone see any short term or long term issues with adding the snakehead? Thanks for any replies.

snakeheads are illegal

Snakeheads are not illegal in Canada I think.

Rainbow snakeheads (Channa bleheri) need a cool doen perid in the winter as they are sub tropical, if they dont after a couple of years they appear to get sick and die.

i hate it when people don't even bother to see where the person is, and instead of saying anything constructive they just say that they're illegal :irked:

in any case, i highly doubt a rainbow snakehead would pose any risk to the environment, they just don't have the potential as the only reach 6 inches.

There is nothing illegal about snakeheads where I live, I am just wondering if anyone with experience with these fish has any input on whether or not purchasing the fish would be a bad idea.

Bad idea mate.
The Bleheri are sub-tropical, your fish are tropical.
I also think there will be problems with the Gar.
