Hey guys,
So I have a 75 that I like to keep a little overstocked. I currently have a Fluval 404. I think that it is being worked to it's limit right now and the tank is not as clean as I would like. I do weekly water changes and there is always alot of waste in he gravel. Also, the tank never has that chrystal look like it did when I had a 303 in conjunction with the 404.(gave that to my bro) So I want to try adding another filter. Should I get another 404 for 90 bucks or should I get a different kind? I was thinking the 404 because I already have one and my supplies would be interchangable. But if there is something better I'd give it a try. Thanks for any input.

everyone on this site will probably tell you to get an eheim, however i own 4 fluvals myself and found them to be doing just fine. a second one wil be helpful for an overstocked 75

I'm in the same situation you're in. I have a Fluval 404 on a 75g tank and was thinking of getting another one. However, I do hear a lot of praise for the eheim. They're just really expensive! Especially an eheim to filter a 75g tank.

Which model Eheim is considered best? Though 90 bucks for a 404 is pretty tough to beat especially since they do a pretty good job.

They have different models that can do the job for a 75g but they have the ecco, wet/dry, and regular canister. All of them go for over $200.

I would make a DIY wet dry filter for the same amount of money. A wet dry, when properly used, can really blow away canisters for biological filtration

they had the eheim classic on sale for a while now bought a couple my self but if you have the skill go wet dry redtails on the money there.

Yeah that is where I would go. Is that Eheim Classic better than a 404 though? I know the professional is but I don't want to spend 230 or whatever it is.

much better has very little bypass i have a classic a pro 2 and their wet dry canistor also have fluvals and i really think the clasic is the best bang for the buck
