We're looking for a new addition to our 75g. The parameters in the tank already seem good for the knife (75 degrees, slightly acidic). Here's what we already have:

1 gold gourami
1 opaline gourami
1 pearl go for filtrationurami
1 paradise gourami
2 small pictus cats
1 6" featherfin syno
1 senegal bichir
1 needlefish
1 rainbow shark
2 bumblebee catfish
3 plecos
1 golden algae eater

We have a fluval 404 for filtration.

Any thoughts? The other fish I was thinking of was a leporinus fasciatus (sp?) or a spotted climbing perch (ctenopoma acutirostre)

Thanks!

African Brown Knives are great. They will eat small fish that will fit in their mouths though. Your tank seems to be pretty well stock as it is, but that's just my opinion.

do you mean xenomystus nigiri or gymnotus carapo because the nigiri are fairly peaceful anyways and dont realy have a big mouth and dont get big, the gymnotus however are slightly more agressive(as in the one i used to have bit me hehe)and can attain 24" sometimes, either way depending on the size of the knife and the size of your pictus cats you should be fine with either.

I was thinking xenomytus nigiri. I chose that one because I haven't heard of them getting more than 12" max in aquaria (and it seems 8" to 10" is the norm)

Mine is in a heavily stocked tank with 2 Gold Gouramis, an Opaline and a Snakeskin and nobody in the tank has even looked twice at him since his introduction. Very cool, attractive docile fish (Xenomystus Nigiri).
