Hello
i have a 180 gallon tank with growing cichlids that will all be large. i have provided ample filtration and the bio filters are working awesome three weeks and no balance changes sense the start up of the 180 and transfer of fish. what i am asking is if i were to add one last fish, i was thinking of an arowana because of there amazing look and size but i figured i would like to ask the pro's first here and see if this would be acceptable. the tank dementions are the common 72x24x24. also if i were to add one will i be able to get one young and train it to eat pellets as well as shrimp and blood worms exc? only ask because the answer really decide if i would like one or not because i am not a fan of feeders i have lost fish in the past from this and hate to present the opertunity again on something as unsafe.

You can have one for quite a while in that tank. But for life I believe it should be atleast a 8x3x3. Especially for a silver arrow.

My fish life is sparked up with Polys :)

Every silver I have ever owned has always taken to pellets pretty much right away. As for having one in a 180... a lot of people will flame you for it. but if you buy a small juvenile at a few inches. You could probably house it in there until it hits 25-28 inches as long as the filtration is good and you don't have much else in there... They are very flexible fish so they can turn around with ease so a 24 inch width would be fine for probably 2 years or so.

Possibly for a while. Need to do proper research first

What are the size and type of cichlid that you are growing out?

i have answered the question threw the info from all you have posted and am happy to say that i will not be getting one. due to the fact that the tank will be too full by the time he reaches 28 inches and i have just enough threw the math in it right now once everyone reaches there ideal sizes. i also honestly believe that if i were even to bring up a larger tank to my wife over the next two years she will probably faint because she was convinced when i started to collect these awesome fish i have that a 55 would be fine. now to her amazement i am staring at a 180 gallon beauty and there is going to be just enough room. she claims that there is no need for a bigger tank when we joke about it because the 180 big enough to berry me in.

That was a good decision on your behalf. So many people house fish in inadequately sized aquariums and then get mad when you tell them their tank is too small. Which is a crime with such an beautiful fish like an Arowana.
