Hey MFK’s

I’ve been out of the hobby for 2 years. I miss it. I consider myself an advanced aquarist even though I’ve had prior priorities and have since been too occupied to tend to fish that have special needs... so now the million dollar question is DO I GET BACK INTO THE HOBBY? I’m going to be leaving for college in about a year.. that’s my only down fall. What is making me curious is, I have a chance to get some real neat specimens and that’s what is making me want to get back into it. What’s the say?

I say get your career in order first and start back collecting those rare Knives again. ;)

I say get a 5 gallon and a betta so you can at least have something in college that wont be too time consuming but just enough to give you some enjoyment.

Hello; Back when I went off to school the first year I just left my two small tanks at home. My mother did the feeding and I was back home often enough to deal with other things. Not sure what happened the second year and may not have had any tanks running. By the third year I had a ten gallon only and everything I owned could fit in a 1957 Pontiac including my first wife.
I guess having a ten gallon with common small fish counts as having tanks and for a few years small tanks were the norm. Too much moving around for a number of years.

If you decide to get back in perhaps keep it simple as it is so hard to know what the situation might be.
Good luck anyway.

He could even do a nano tank and have some nano fish or make it a shrimp tank, a planted nano would be lovely.

I agree with getting school over with and getting your career off the ground. Once you are established the hobby will be that much better. If anything, you could start putting money aside and planning out future tanks while you wait.

Thanks for all of the opinions guys! fishhead0103666 fishhead0103666 That is a Gymnotus tigre sf. ‘Orange’ real neat species. I had him awhile back. He passed away from old age. He was an old guy!
