I have a two year old female Jag by itself in a 120 gallon and I am getting sick of it destroying the tank . I have a pet store that will find it a new home so it will not be killed or anything. I am just thinking I would rather have more mellow fish and not a beast. It is also hard for me to clean the tank because she is constantly chasing me and trying to take a chunk out of my hand. So I am looking for a little advice should I keep it or let it go.Anyone?

ummm sounds like you already made the decison. your not enjoying taking care of the fish so id say take her in and find something that will be a joy to keep

I agree. You can also try putting her up for free here on MFK in the Marketplace, so you can make sure she gets a proper home. I'm sure someone is willing to take her in your area.

I don't really get why you bought her in the first place...no offense. You should of known that most/all jags destroy tanks and are very aggressive. Anyway, ya...I agree with what the others said, sounds like you already made the decision and thats to get rid of her.

That is why I stopped keeping real agressive cichlids. Didn't like dedicating a whole nice tank to one fish. YOu could do a few cool things with a 120 also.

Get a pair of thick rubber gloves specially made for cleaning aquariums and you won't have to deal with her trying to bite you. It will be sorta funny instead of frustrating.

x2 on the long arm glove,i could never clean my jagxtexas hybrid tank without it.he still bites the glove, but with thick pvc type material he can't get through.i would also suggest that you post her for sale or free on MFk,that way chances of a responsible fish keeper getting it are better, alot LFS are lame

Sorry for the derail but thanks for the idea man. I literally have two scars on the top of my hand from my dovii male. I'm going to try this.

OP, if your considering getting rid of a fish, it's time to pull the trigger. The longer you hang on to a fish you no longer want the more someone else that really wants that fish is looking somewhere else. Let someone else enjoy it if your no longer happy.
